Eee Box Unboxed
Now that everything's ready to go, it's time to pass the Eee Box along to my parents.
OK, here's the scoop - Mom already knows about the computer, but Dad doesn't. I've invited Mom into my room to check out the computer during setup, and she really seems to dig it. I wonder how she will feel once it's hooked up to their humongous 47" LCD HDTV!
As for Dad, I'm going to wait and surprise him. He's been meaning to get a new computer for a while, but just hasn't gotten around to it yet. I think this will be a pleasant surprise for him.
All right, time to unhook everything and pack it all downstairs.
Setting everything back up is simple. Mom tries out the computer again. We spend about five hours downloading software, playing Spider Solitaire, and just plain having a blast. Everything worked perfectly. My mom, after playing with it for a while, thinks that Dad will really enjoy this computer. But will he? Let's find out when he gets home from work.
Well, the lights have gone out, and my dad has gone to bed (after little sleep and a ten-hour work shift). I suppose we'll have to wait for him to wake up and power to be restored. Bummer. But a little waiting should fix things.
After a few hours, the wait is over. I introduce my dad to the Eee Box. He seems very impressed by the size of the unit, and how well it runs. He and I spent a few hours surfing the Web and playing more Spider, and we had a good time. He gave me a big hug and thanked me. It would seem that the Eee Box is a hit in this house!
